Girl Scout Time AGAIN!

Ok...so Audrey has been a girl scout since she was in first grade. I have found that it is a great outlet not only for her, but for me as well....I have made some pretty awesome friends and living in "The Livable Forest" this is a task that isn't always easy. A lot of these women from the "Burbs" are straight up snobs! But enough about them...let's talk about ME....ahaha

This is the second year that I have somehow been tricked into being the Leader of Troop 9488. Now I must say that this is a great group of young ladies (most of the time). But I am wondering how I became such a sucker when it comes to wrangling these rugrats every year! This is the response I have heard from other moms when I told them I am giving this gig up at the end of the year...

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! They will obliterate any other human being that comes across their path!"

"But you are so good with them, they actually listen to you because you scare them" (not a pretty picture being painted here)

"If you quit, then there will be no troop because nobody else wants that job!"

So, I guess for now I am stuck with these monsters....I mean sweet little girls and did I mention there are 13 of them....we have the largest Troop in our Service Unit...GO ME! Last night was our first official meeting and it was interesting. I was talking to the girls about our upcoming camping trip...here are some of the questions I got...

"Mrs. Heather, can we like bring our lip gloss and smell good lotion for after we shower?" (insert Valley girl voice here)
"Can I bring my portable DVD player?"(seriously....do you ever enjoy just living the simple life?)
"Are we using port-a-potties, cause my mom says I can't use those?"(shock...gasp.....NO you are using latrines and you get to clean them too!)
"What happens if it rains while we are sleeping because I am scared of the lightning and thunder, so if I leave my tent I am going to cry" (why on earth would you leave your tent in the middle of night during a thunder storm....BTW Texas has been in drought mode for a while my dear!)

Ok....ALL of these girls have been camping with me twice except our 2 new girls....and neither of them asked the above questions.....Whoever said there is no such thing as a stupid question should have their head examined!

But in all seriousness, I do enjoy teaching these girls about all the things that they can do and acheive if they set their minds to it. I forsee some of them doing great things in the future and I hope that maybe one day they will look back and think "Mrs. Heather wasn't so scary, she was just trying to help us realize we can be strong independent women with awesome goals."

So in January don't forget about Troop 9488 here in Texas because we will be selling those YUMMY Girl Scout cookies that EVERYONE loves!!!

Stay Silly my friends

Make new friends,
but keep the old,
One is silver and the other gold.
A Circle is round,
it has no ends.
That's how long I want to be your friend.
