Miss Independent

Well, as of last night...my baby has decided she is going to hold her own bottles now. Almost nine years ago....my oldest baby was doing the same. I told Todd we have Super Babies!!! haha  This is of course a huge milestone as well as relief to all of us at home. As much as I love the bonding time, sometimes I just need to get stuff done that is not possible with a baby in my arms. In the back of my mind...I fast forward to the day that she will be telling us to let go of the back of her bike..."I can do it by myself!" Sigh...the things we look forward to for so long sometimes bring a tear to my eye and tug at my heart.

Enough of my sappy thoughts for now....

Nostalgia

So I ran across this candy website today (go figure) and I saw some candies that brought back memories from my childhood. Candy cigarettes, Chick-o-sticks and one of my favorites....Atomic Fireballs. I remember one summer when my Dad bought a large tub of those things and I literally ate so many that it caused a small hole in the roof of my mouth! Man...it would be so neat to go back and be a kid again...not saying I want to relive it all..but the good times for sure! Or heck...even if I were to run across a Zoltar Machine, like in the movie BIG with Tom Hanks....I could do the opposit and become a kid. Would be a little weird though since I have 2 of my own....haha

Well I am off to be silly...

Addictions

Probably not what you were thinking....

I am addicted to Peanut Butter....I love the stuff! My new found favorite is Peanut butter M&M's. SO GOOD! And Nutella....that stuff is deeeeelicious! A Peanut butter/nutella sandwhich is pretty tasty as well....haha But I will have to say, nothing beats my Dad's Peanut buter Fudge!!! And I don't care who you are or how long you have been cooking...you will NEVER be able to top his recipe! Please...don't try to argue with me either...my mind and tastebuds are made up.

I can say that I am making up for lost time right now because while pregnant with Aurelia, anything sweet or previously tasty was a trigger for nausea. Of course that was good in a way, I only gained 17 pounds and lost that and then some right after having her. But I can see it creeping back on my hips, thighs and everywhere in between! I never make a New Year's Resolution, only because I think it is silly to do something that you should more than likely be doing all along in the first place. But this year....well I am going to have to control my urge to eat junk food. I am a "Foodie" by nature and I will eat when I am bored too, so I really have to watch myself :(

So, for all of you out there that have the power struggle of loving your food...you are not alone! Half the women in my office are the same and well that really sucks when you are trying to stay away from the yummy stuff! Like the 4 oatmeal raisin cookies I had for breakfast this morning.....thanks girls...love you!

I am out for now...

All I want for Christmas....

Are my two front teeth....I am sure that many of you who read this blog have probably heard that old saying/song. Well, my littlest Mulcahey gave me a brief peek as to why she has been dubbed "Devil Baby" this past week. She is sprouting two pearly whites on her bottom gum. Sigh...it was a happy and sad moment for me. Happy because well those two little teeth are ADORABLE when they smile but sad because it just goes to show how time flies. Aurelia is just a little over 5 months and I swear I just welcomed her into our world only a weeke ago :(

So by Christmas, we should have a cute little toothy smile for everyone to see....and if I can...I will get a video of the adorable baby giggle too. Which of course only Audrey seems to be able to make her do. Now squealing on the other hand, she does that for EVERYONE...all day, every day! HAHA

Silly as I want to be...

See them!?! So stinking cute!

Gadget Girl Update...

Well...Thanksgiving has come and gone...we had a good time! The girls got to visit with the grandparents....which is always great (for the grandparents...keeps them on their toes) haha But I am here to announce that I received an early Christmas present! Yep....remember when I talked about all things electronic on my wishlist....well my Dad (the awesome guy that he is) decided to get me a Kindle Fire!!! LOVE YOU DAD!  It rocks by the way.....I am still playing around with it and learning about all it has to offer, but so far, I am in love :)

So my hubby gets my Older Kindle and I am now able to read at night in bed while he is sleeping! It is the little things that amuse me :)

So if you were wondering what to get me for Christmas...HAHAHA...don't get the Kindle Fire....Dad beat ya to it!

Silly As Always,

Just a Nickname

Our girls have tons of nicknames....and I see nothing wrong with that at all. I myself had nicknames as a child....in fact my Dad still calls me by the one he gave me...and to tell you the truth, it is a great feeling. There is something special about having a name that only your Dad, Grandpa, etc calls you. Here are a few Audrey's...Monkey (I have called her this since day one) Squirrel (Todd's name for her), Audrey Girl, Hoo-dray, Audrey Cat....etc. She would probably kill me if she knew I posted this for the world to see.

Now Aurelia has a few as well...sweet pea, chipmunk, Pickle (because she can be quite sour at times), and her newest...Super Chunk...at 4 months of age....she weighs almost 16lbs...needless to say, I don't have small babies....and that is okay. Both of the girls are beautiful and I wouldn't change them for the world!

Absolute Silly!

Mother Daughter Fun!

Alrighty....I have either lost my mind or have decided it is time for me to get in shape....well maybe it is both. For those of you that have ever watched The Amazing Race on television, then you will know what I am talking about. Audrey and I have entered The Great Amazing Race here in Houston, which will be held on December 3, 2011. It will be teams of parents and kids completeing a 1 mile cross country event, including check points with puzzles, obstacle courses and all out fun.

Audrey has hit that..."you never do anything with me now since you have the baby" stage. SIGH....so this opportunity came along and I decided she and I can do this as a Mother/Daughter Team. I am looking forward to it actually and hope that those of you in Houston can come cheer us on.

Let me know if you need information!

As Always...

Gadget Junkie Here

For those of you that really know me...you probably have realized that I am an electronic gadget junkie! I seriously take after my Dad here :)    I used to be one of those people that could care less about the newest phone, camera, television or what-not. Oh, but not these days....I am that person who would probably sell my soul to the Devil to get the latest gadget being released on the market.

I had an ipod shuffle once (well techincally I still have it) but it was replaced by the ipod touch..because I just had to have it when it came out....so Todd bought me one for Christmas two years ago. And of course I LOVE it....but now I am digging the ipad :)

And last year I got a Kindle....from my super awesome hubby! He said my "library" was taking over the house...to we had to rein it in...LOL  Now they have the New Kindle Fire....TOTALLY AWESOME! and I want it...but Todd said NO! phewy

And let's not even talk about cell phones....I got the Droid Touch last year...which is a fantastic phone....but...(there is always something better) the new iphone 4 is out!!!!! Which Todd is thinking about getting to replace his POS phone....sigh....so I guess I will wait...but eventually one of the above items will be mine! Oh YES IT WILL BE MINE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

As always....

Late Night Snuggle Bunnies

Nine years ago I gave birth, to who I thought at the time, the most beautiful little girl ever. Of course nine years later, I have had to change my mind, because I added a new little girl to our lives and she is just as beautiful as the first.

Last night I was sitting all alone with Aurelia feeding her the last bottle of the evening. I just sat there watching her eat with her little eyes closed and it made my heart swell. I remembered what it was like to sit with Audrey and hold her close. There was a time when Audrey was my little snuggle partner and she had a specific time every evening that she wanted nothing to do with anyone but me. But those days have passed and as she has gotten older, she has become a Daddy's Girl. Although sometimes she still comes to me when she thinks her Dad is being "mean" haha  I miss my little monkey....she is turning out to be a beautiful little lady.

For now, Aurelia is my snuggle bunny and maybe, just maybe one day I will have a little partner to stick by my side. Until then, I will enjoy all the moments we have when it is just the two of us.

Off to See the Wizard

Okie dokie....

So my scouts are going camping in November, as previously stated. It is going to be a huge trip this year...it's a two nighter with ALL the scout troops in Kingwood. And it just so happens to have a theme. Us adults will be returning to the magical land of OZ....oh how I always wanted a pair of Ruby Slippers!

Alas, that life was not meant for me, I traded in my dreams for a handsome husband and two beautiful girls, who I pray grow up to be as special as I think they are! And even though I never got to meet the All and Powerful Oz...I can say that the magic lives inside me...yes I know I seem like a strict, no fun kinda gal at times....but deep down I am such a softy and can be just as silly as my troop!

Anyway....this blog is actually about SWAPS....these little creative things that the girls make and trade with other girls at any type of meeting involving other troops. So....I need to come up with something super cute and easy for them to make. For some reason I am hitting a road block in my creativity department this time!
Maybe I need to watch the movie again to get some ideas going!

I will post pics as soon as something is made for you all to see!

Girl Scout Time AGAIN!

Ok...so Audrey has been a girl scout since she was in first grade. I have found that it is a great outlet not only for her, but for me as well....I have made some pretty awesome friends and living in "The Livable Forest" this is a task that isn't always easy. A lot of these women from the "Burbs" are straight up snobs! But enough about them...let's talk about ME....ahaha

This is the second year that I have somehow been tricked into being the Leader of Troop 9488. Now I must say that this is a great group of young ladies (most of the time). But I am wondering how I became such a sucker when it comes to wrangling these rugrats every year! This is the response I have heard from other moms when I told them I am giving this gig up at the end of the year...

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!! They will obliterate any other human being that comes across their path!"

"But you are so good with them, they actually listen to you because you scare them" (not a pretty picture being painted here)

"If you quit, then there will be no troop because nobody else wants that job!"

So, I guess for now I am stuck with these monsters....I mean sweet little girls and did I mention there are 13 of them....we have the largest Troop in our Service Unit...GO ME! Last night was our first official meeting and it was interesting. I was talking to the girls about our upcoming camping trip...here are some of the questions I got...

"Mrs. Heather, can we like bring our lip gloss and smell good lotion for after we shower?" (insert Valley girl voice here)
"Can I bring my portable DVD player?"(seriously....do you ever enjoy just living the simple life?)
"Are we using port-a-potties, cause my mom says I can't use those?"(shock...gasp.....NO you are using latrines and you get to clean them too!)
"What happens if it rains while we are sleeping because I am scared of the lightning and thunder, so if I leave my tent I am going to cry" (why on earth would you leave your tent in the middle of night during a thunder storm....BTW Texas has been in drought mode for a while my dear!)

Ok....ALL of these girls have been camping with me twice except our 2 new girls....and neither of them asked the above questions.....Whoever said there is no such thing as a stupid question should have their head examined!

But in all seriousness, I do enjoy teaching these girls about all the things that they can do and acheive if they set their minds to it. I forsee some of them doing great things in the future and I hope that maybe one day they will look back and think "Mrs. Heather wasn't so scary, she was just trying to help us realize we can be strong independent women with awesome goals."

So in January don't forget about Troop 9488 here in Texas because we will be selling those YUMMY Girl Scout cookies that EVERYONE loves!!!

Stay Silly my friends

COUPONING!!!!!

Ok, so I have become addicted to couponing, which I might say, is a lot better than being addicted to crack...so there! I started watching that Extreme Couponing show in TLC and told myself...sheesh I need to learn how to do that! Well I watched tons of episodes and still could not figure out how the heck these people were saving so much money. But then, I went to this website http://www.mylitter.com/, Tiffany was actually featured on Extreme Couponing and this is her husband's site http://www.iheartthemart.com/...and better still..she lives here in Texas! I love that she find the deals for you and lists what you need in order to make the most out of your trip as well as coupons. I remember the first shopping trip I did after reading her website tips and stuff.....it was AWESOME....

I got all of this...

5 boxes of cereal
4 jars of spagh sauce
2 boxes of spagh noodles
4 bottles of deodorant
5 frozen pizzas
1 bottle of shampoo
1 bottle of conditioner

total after coupons....$18.74

Pretty Sweet Deal if you ask me....well I have gotten better since that first trip...and I am learning more tips daily....but the biggest thing is...CUT COUPONS....buy several papers, print them from the net....and buy several of everything! Now I spend several hours a week looking for the best deals and coupons, that way I am ready on the weekend for my shopping trip.

So, if you think about it, try it....I think you will like it!

That is all for now...

Welcome!

So...I figured I would start a blog for you all to take a gander at. It is mainly for family and friends to keep in contact and see what is going on in the Mulcahey house from time to time. Of course, as I begin this process, the newest addition to our family (Aurelia who is now 10 weeks old) has decided to wake up from a nap. And when I say nap...I use this term rather loosely because they are usually no more than 15-25mins long. JOY! And now she has spit up on herself....so this will be the conclusion of my very first post, to what I hope is an interesting blog for everyone to enjoy!

Stay "Silly" Everyone
